WHERE WE MINISTER

According to the Rule of Saint Albert (the Carmelite Rule), friars are to be occupied by some type of work. When the hermits followed the crusaders back to Europe, they began to be educated in the major universities and took on the works of teaching, preaching, and chaplaincies. Along with a strenuous prayer life, Carmelites are engaged with people in communities. We do not shy away from local issues, and also keep a prayerful eye on what is happening on a global level. Work allows the friar time attend to a duty important to his superior. We are all given training so as to be prepared to work most present day ministries in the Church today.
