Hello, my name if Father Roberto Perez O.Carm. I have been a member of the Carmelite Friars since our profession in June of 1996. I have always been attracted to the Carmelite Saints, in particular Saints Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, and Therese of Lisieux. As an older student, formation was challenging and difficult. As I tell each friar, “behind each Cross is the resurrection”. This has been the story of my journey. Each time I felt that I could not handle the studies, I remembered that Christ helps us all with our difficulties.

Since becoming a priest, I have lived in four communities. Each one has had its challenges. I am currently living in South Florida. My new assignment is with Cross International Catholic Outreach. Cross International reaches out to the poor in the developing countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. As an Outreach preacher for CROSS, I visit a different parish every weekend in the US to bring the message of the poor to the people of God. It's wonderful to see so many dedicated people in the parishes. In spite of the economic crises, parishes throughout the United States have been very generous.
