I
have just been assigned to Our Lady of Mount
Carmel Church and priory in Middletown, New
York where I will serve as Parochial Vicar.
I will be involved in the life of the parish
community.
I entered the Carmelite formation program
in January of 1994 and professed simple vows
in June of 1996. I became a solemnly
professed member of the Order on August 14,
1999 and was ordained a Carmelite Priest on
June 15, 2002.
What
attracted me most to Carmel was the life of
the Carmelite Saints, in particular, Saint
Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross and
Therese of Lisieux.
My advice to those considering a vocation
to the Carmelites: “Our way of life is a
communal one in which we strive our best to
support and care for each other. Consider
our community and help us to witness to this
important value needed in our world today.”
Father Roberto Perez, O. Carm.
