I
am presently working at our Carmelite High
School in the Palm Beach Diocese of South
Florida. I teach five Religion courses and
work with migrant laborers as a social
justice ministry.
I entered the Carmelites eight years ago and
professed my simple vows on Jume 9, 1997 and
made my solemn commitment in August of 2000.
What attracted me to the Carmelites is their
deep, deep spirituality, their devotion to
our Blessed Mother, their 800 year tradition
and their three Doctors of the Church:
Saints Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross
and Therese of Lisieux.
My advice to those considering a vocation to
the Carmelites: “You can’t really know if
God is calling you until you make a year
commitment of discernment. We offer an
opportunity to do this in our pre-novitiate
program. SIGN UP!”
Brother Robert Bathe, O.Carm.
